What this site counts.

This site uses Google Analytics to count visits: which pages are read, roughly where readers are (country and city, from the IP address, which Google does not store), what device and browser they use, which site sent them here, and which outside links they follow. It helps decide what to write and what to fix.

Nothing is used for advertising. Ad storage, ad personalisation and Google signals are switched off. No data is sold or shared by this site. There are no forms, and no accounts.

In the European Union, the UK, Switzerland and Quebec, Analytics runs without cookies and sends only anonymous, cookieless pings. Elsewhere it sets a first-party cookie (_ga) to tell a returning visit from a new one.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, Analytics does not load at all. You can also switch it off for this browser here:
